Prevention & Treatment of Dengue Virus
Purpose of Awareness Program
RWO arranged an awareness session with the provision of SPO, Multan on 26-09-2012 at Tehsil Municipal Authority Hall, Layyah. 26 male and 4 female participants along with some active social workers of the area attended this program. The following points were communicated to the people:
- Introduction of dengue virus according to WHO definition
- Symptoms of dengue fever
- Information about dengue hemorrhagic fever
- Causes of dengue virus
- Medication of dengue virus
- Preventions of dengue virus
After the session all participants became fully aware about the all aspects of dengue virus. They were also mobilized for spreading this knowledge in their surroundings and playing their role for the eradication of this virus from their localities. They were committed to adopted all the prevention measures.
Dengue Virus in District Layyah
The dengue cases have been reported from different areas of Punjab, Pakistan since April 2011. Media sources disclosed that many dengue positive patients were brought to different hospitals from diverse areas of the province like Layyah, Bhakkar, Jhang, and Muzaffargarh in the month of April 2011 for their diagnosis and treatments. Keeping in view the scale of epidemic in the province, the Sri Lankan health experts, who were visiting Pakistan, anticipated that the elimination of dengue mosquito from Pakistan will take at least 10 years.The Punjab government and health department launched a massive media campaign against the dengue mosquito in September 2011. Punjab health department and district local authorities also launched the public anti-dengue spray campaigns and tried to reach as far as possible. This apt response achieved encouraging outcomes.
